Title: Anyone shoot with one eye closed?
Post by: aim small...release on March 09, 2016, 02:27:00 PM
I use to shoot like this when I first started but was told it was wrong, so I stopped. JW if anyone does this I was playing around like we do and I was surprised at my accuracy. Thanks as always gang

I am right handed but left eye dominant. I also gap shoot so closing my left eye is a great help..........except for observing arrow flight.

My focus sometimes blurs, particularly if I'm roving. Couple of days ago it was fairly pronounced, so I tried closing one eye. Substantial improvement! I only took my last few shots that way, but I'll be trying it out some more.

I use the tip of the arrow to aim and i close one eye to help focus on the tip as my sight. It does not seem to affect accuracy or depth perception.

Works great for me and my cross hand/eye dominant arrow point gapping 3 under shooting "style". I think at one time or another someone has told me each of those, individually is wrong so combined it must be nearly impossible or at least traditionally illegal. Again, it works great for me and I have tons of fun shooting with pretty darn good accuracy over a wide range of yardages and having fun is my over riding archery goal.

No. Both eyes open all the time.

I just posted this very question up top. I start with both eyes open to get the "range" to my brain. Once I bring my bow up, I point the arrow at the spot I'm wanting to hit. As I start the draw I close my left eye until the shot is away. This seems to make me aim "smaller" and focus on the shot more. When I do that AND have good follow through, it is usually a good shot.

Using a fixed crawl I wink one eye just before loosing the arrow

I shot for many years with both eyes open, then tried closing one eye and could not believe the results! I feel like an olympic archer! I have been shooting great ever since! Thanks.
