I've been slapping my lip upon release. The area being rubbed is just in front of the corner of my mouth. Any ideas?
Here are my shooting particulars: I shoot three under with fixed crawl. Tab shooter w/ middle finger at corner of the mouth. My alignment is good and when I execute the shot sequence well, there are no left/ right arrows.
I think you are turning your head into the string too much rather than holding head still and pulling string to your anchor...you are trying to "help" your anchor by turning head toward where you are pulling string. Hence it slapping lip... I did it a few years ago for a while when I was working back into a bow after a bad shoulder separation.
I am sure someone will say I am full of crap...but my opinion. Hope you find cause and solution.
Thanks, Brock!
The only thing I would add is to check your tab to make sure that is not slapping your mouth. I had to trim mine back quite a bit before it quit biting me.
I was going to suggest tab size too. I took a couple shots the other night using my sons large tab and it slapped the crap out of me.
Thanks, guys!
Got a new tab and after shooting a dozen arrows ha a fat lip. Trimed the tab and problem solved.
Are you shooting right handed, but are left-eye dominant? Could be turning your head into your string hand slightly to get your dominant left eye in better position.
I have been slapped both by the tab and by turning my face into the string. Trim the tab and work on form, and the problem will go away.
I shoot right handed, left eye dominant. I close my left eye, so I don't have issues. I have trimmed my tab and worked on form. Currently, I'm shooting string walking system. I like it very much, but can't seem to correct the slap. The only thing I've found that works is moving my actor from the corner of my mouth to my eye tooth. Problem solved!
Ive also tried closing my stance, opening my stance and neither worked.
