Hi All,
I have a slight issue. I recently bought a mongolian style bow, and figuring I should start low, I actually dropped 20 pounds in weight down to a very mangageable 45 so I could shoot with my thumb.
I am really, really enjoying this style! But my whole thumb is black from using a thumb ring with bruising, I'm guessing that's not normal, right?
I've been shooting just with my fingers as well, and that's okay for about half an hour before it's too swollen to keep using with but I guess the pads will harden up eventually with new callouses.
So my question is, should I just toughen up my bare fingers, or is there something I can do to stop the thumb ring causing such damage!
Scott,
If it is causing damage, it is probably too tight. I would do the required measurements and get one of the vermil rings from cinnabar bow. There is a measurement guide on the web site. Hope this helps.

You may have your thumb ring on wrong. The longest projection of the ring should be under the thumb and pointing forward to protect the thumb pad. Fit is important too. Should feel comfortable. Rotate easily, but wont come off if you shake your hand.
