Title: Kodiak brace hieght.
Post by: RPr2 on December 19, 2006, 03:40:00 PM
I am sure this has been answered before, I have an old Bear Kodiak about 48" how high should the brace hieght be? Or, how much under the AMO length should the string be.

Hi!
If its that short it might be a Super Magnum 48" ?!?
Anyhow, if it says 'AMO', then you need a string which is 3" (three inch) shorter = 45".
My own Super Mag. 48" is braced just a fraction above 8" with such a 45" string and fits me perfect that way.

AMO bowlength is DEFINED by length of string which gives propper brace height PLUS three inch.

I have a bow that says 56" AMO and I twisted up a string to 53". I tried brace heights from 6 to 9 and it was still noisy. Is there anywhere I can find out the recommended brace height for an old  Bear Black Panther?

Joe,
if you've been from 6" to 9" without getting the bow to calm down I think you don't have an other choice then increasing arrow mass and/or adding (bigger) silencers to your string.
With RC's anything close to 8" sounds fine to start with IMO. I would not like to even experiement above 9" brace height.

I found from observation, cause I don't use those weights myself, that low poundages with theire thin limbs tend to make noisyer bows. Same for wider vs. slimmer but thicker limbs of same draw weight.
Can this cause your problem here?!
